Careers Programme

Key Stage 3, 4 and 5

The careers programme prepares students  well for their future and supports them to make make an informed decision about the next stage of their education, training or employment at each stage of their learning. We ensure that sixth form students are ready for their next stage at the end of Year 13 and go on to appropriate, high quality destinations. We do this; 

In Year 7, through....

• The Personal Development programme, sessions led by form tutors and the Careers Leader about identifying and understanding key interests and career aspirations
• Activities to help students understand employability skills and sectors 
• Visiting speakers from an array of industries 
• An Enterprise challenge with The Talent Foundry 
• Presentations on increasing and decreasing industry sectors

In Year 8, through…

• The Personal Development programme, sessions with form tutors and the Careers Leader to further develop employability skills and help students understand how interests link to careers
• Activities & assemblies to build awareness of  labour market information​
• Visiting speakers from industry 
• Engineering workshop with Energy Quest
• Assembly talks on apprenticeships, T levels, vocational routes and university
• Initial 1:1 careers meeting to discuss aspirations 
• Visit to a Careers Fair ​
• Visit to The Big Bang Fair for STEM related jobs
• Opportunity to attend the Esports workshop at The University of Warwick 

In Year 9, through…

• The Personal Development programme &  sessions with form tutors to further develop skills & competencies & how these link to pathways to raise awareness for GCSE options
• Activities & assemblies to raise awareness of labour market information​
• Visiting speakers from industry
• Future day with The University of Bath
• Assembly talks on apprenticeships, T levels & Vocational route
• Teentech challenge​
• Visit to a Careers Fair ​
• Visit to The University of Leicester
• Channel 4 workshop

In Year 10, through…

• The Personal Development programme & form tutor sessions to further develop personal profile & preferred work environments

• Activities to develop CV writing skills

• Visiting speakers from industry ​

• University workshops

• Presentations on apprenticeships, T levels & vocational routes

• Financial awareness sessions

• A talk provided by  a technical education or training provider

In Year 11, by…

• The Personal Development programme & form tutor sessions to research post 16 options and further develop personal profile ​

• Activities to develop personal statements ​

• ​Visiting speakers from industry

• A talk provided by  a technical education or training provider

• Assembly talks on apprenticeships, A Levels, university and vocational routes

• 1:1 impartial careers guidance interviews​

• 1:1 support with college/apprenticeship applications​

• Visit to a careers fair​

• Year 11 mentor support​

• Mock interviews with representatives from various industries with detailed feedback

In the Sixth Form, through…
