Applied Science Double Award AS and A Level
The Applied Science course is tailored towards students whose best work is produced in course work, rather than the more traditional academic route.
Biology A level
Teaching is based both on traditional lectures and on discussions. Students are issued with a course text book to support each module and to help with their research and homework. The Biology Department is well equipped and places considerable emphasis on practical work.
Chemistry A level
Teaching is based both on traditional lectures and on discussions. Students are issued with a course text book to support each module and to help with their research and homework.
Design and Technology AS/A level
How to develop initial design solutions, develop, test and trial working models and prototypes, develop and sustain imagination, innovation and flair when working with concepts and materials
Art and Design A/S level
This course is fine art based and includes observational study, the opportunity to explore a range of media, photography and computer imaging.
Economics with Business A and A/S level
Although the study of Business at GCSE is not a requirement, those who have studied the subject are expected to have achieved a B grade.
English Language A level
This course offers a scientific approach to the study of English Language encouraging students to develop new skills.
English Literature A AS level
This course offers clear progression from English Literature GCSE encouraging students to develop their skills further in this subject.
Further Mathematics A level
Mathematics in the sixth form at St Thomas More Catholic School is offered at a variety of levels.
French A level
A Level French aims to develop the knowledge and skills acquired at GCSE level and use the language learned in a wide range of different contexts.
Geography AS and A level
This course gives students the opportunity to develop an in-depth understanding of physical and human geography.
History A AS level
We offer an exciting and varied approach to history. You will uncover the social and political History of Great Britain, Russia and the USA.
Mathematics A level
Mathematics in the sixth form at St Thomas More Catholic School is offered at a variety of levels.
Health and Social Care BTEC Level 3
This is a two year course equivalent in size to one A level (360 Guided Learning Hours). The course consists of four units, of which 3 are mandatory and 2 are externally assessed.
Spanish AS A2 level
A Level Spanish aims to develop the knowledge and skills acquired at GCSE level and use the language learned in a wide range of different contexts.
