A message from the Headteacher
You will remember from last week’s news that Emma Ricketts of Year 12 was due to participate in the European Junior Kayaking championship in Paris. She did so well that she has been selected to represent Great Britain in the World Kayaking K4 team in Hungary later this month!! What an achievement! Very well done and good luck Emma.
Emily Reynolds in Year 7 represents Great Britain next week in the Mounted Games Association World championships to be held in Chepstow. We wish her the very best of luck too. I have been amazed this year at the levels our pupils reach in so many disciplines including dancing of various sorts, cycling and martial arts in addition to the representative honours particularly in football, netball and athletics that I have mentioned regularly during the year. What always strikes me is their modesty in the light of such achievements. We will have to develop a large wall of fame for the pupils who achieve so much. We also had singers and musicians involved at Bedworth Civic Hall on Tuesday at the County Music spectacular. Apologies to anyone who has not had their moment of glory recorded by me in these notes during the year. Please let me know if I have missed anyone.
Four students from Year 13 will be going to Tanzania on Saturday to undertake voluntary work which will be an amazing experience for them. They have completed many money-raising activities to help fund their trip but the big impact will be when they embrace the dramatically different culture that awaits them.
You are all aware of the growing pressures on schools regarding results, curriculum change and satisfying inspection requirements. However it is also important to us to do our utmost to provide the opportunity to excel or to support pupils who have a wide range of talents in order to help them to be the rounded individuals with a positive growth mind-set that is vital for their long term success.
I wish you all a pleasant weekend.
