St Thomas More School & Sixth Form College Website
This week has passed quickly and has been typical of many at this time of the year. The cold and dark are still with us but the work which is done in this half-term will have a big impact on pupil performance at the end of the year. I would like to commend the various sports teams in the school who are continuing to train and practice with their teachers at lunchtimes. Their enthusiasm is commendable and I hope that these efforts will be rewarded by success in competition.
The progress towards the creation of a Multi Academy Company consisting of St Thomas More and St Joseph’s, St Francis, St Benedict’s, St Anne’s and Our Lady of the Angels is continuing and accelerating as we move towards the proposed 1st March conversion date. A meeting will be arranged for parents in the very near future for you to hear about this plan in more detail.
Those of you who have visited the site recently will have noticed some new fencing and a gate across the entrance to the main playground. These changes are part of a gradual programme to ensure pupil safety and to guide visitors to the school to the correct area of reception. We are also looking to develop our arrangements for pupils who wish to cycle to school. If this plan comes to fruition, all pupils will be expected to leave their bikes near the careers centre and to use a lock of a certain grade to maximise the security of items which can be rather expensive. Further details will follow in due course.
I would like to remind parents who email the school that if they do not get a reply in a few days to telephone to check that the message has been received. We always try to deal with enquiries as promptly as possible but the sheer volume of information coming into schools is increasing dramatically and messages can be missed.
I hope you have a pleasant weekend.
