St Thomas More celebrates excellent A level results
I am delighted to report excellent A and AS level results have been achieved this summer. At A level Year 13 achieved a 100% pass rate, exceeded their targets for A and A* grades and well over half of all grades were B or above. This means that the vast majority of students will be able to go on to the university of their choice, including many who will go to top Russell Group institutions. Their results are much stronger than last year’s Year 13. Behind the overall averages some individual students did exceptionally well including 10 out of 61 (16%) who achieved either A* or A in all their subjects. 19 students (31%) achieved grades of at least B or above in all their subjects.
Year 12 students have also performed very well indeed. The overall pass rate was 95% which was an improvement on the high rate achieved in 2013 (94%). It also compares favourably with the 2013 national pass rate of 89%. Grades A (24%), B (23%) and C (26%) were at levels that exceeded the targets required to place the College in the top 25% of the country. The transition from GCSE to AS study is arguably the biggest step they will take in their education but it is clear that they have laid very solid foundations for further success in Year 13.
Congratulations and well done to students and staff who worked so hard this year to achieve these grades.
